Natural rubies are mostly from Asia (Burma, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China Xinjiang, China Yunnan, etc.), Africa, Oceania (Australia), and the Americas (Montana and South Carolina, USA).
Natural rubies are rare and therefore precious, but synthetic rubies are not too difficult, so industrial rubies are synthetic. In 1999, a red and sapphire continuum was found in Changle County, Shandong Province, China. It weighed 67.5 carats and was called a “gemstone”. It was regarded as a rare miracle in the world. In 2012, a number of 32.7 carats were found in the riverbed of the Karaksh River in Moyu County, Xinjiang.
